Focus and Scope

Jurnal Pendidikan Keperawatan Indonesia (JPKI) aims to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed original research, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and case studies that advance nursing education, nursing science, and evidence-based clinical nursing practice.

The journal is dedicated to addressing contemporary healthcare challenges through innovative educational and clinical interventions, digital health technologies, evidence-based nursing practice, and comprehensive psychosocial care.

While firmly rooted in the demographic, cultural, epidemiological, and healthcare context of Indonesia, JPKI is explicitly open to international submissions and global perspectives. The journal particularly welcomes research that generates insights relevant across countries, cultures, healthcare systems, educational settings, and resource contexts.

JPKI seeks to serve as a scholarly platform for the exchange of nursing knowledge between Indonesian and international researchers and to strengthen the contribution of nursing scholarship to regional and global healthcare development.

Pedagogical innovations, clinical competency development, academic well-being, self-regulated learning, faculty development, simulation-based education, assessment of nursing competencies, and the integration of technology in nursing curricula. JPKI also welcomes studies examining the adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of international educational standards across different cultural and resource settings, including low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Development, implementation, usability, accessibility, and effectiveness of health technologies, including mobile health (mHealth) applications, artificial intelligence-supported nursing applications, virtual reality (VR), wearable technologies, telehealth, digital simulation, and interactive multimedia for nursing care, education, and patient engagement. Particular interest is given to digital health equity and implementation in geographically dispersed, rural, remote, and resource-limited settings.

Evidence-based nursing care in medical-surgical, critical, emergency, perioperative, and related clinical settings. This scope includes symptom management, patient safety, nursing-sensitive outcomes, non-pharmacological therapies, mind-body interventions, complementary approaches, and the integration of evidence-based ethnonursing or culturally grounded practices into standardized nursing care.

Nursing interventions addressing anxiety, depression, psychological distress, bullying and cyberbullying, behavioral disorders, stigma, resilience, quality of life, and psychosocial determinants of health across the lifespan. JPKI welcomes community-based mental health initiatives and studies exploring culturally responsive mental health nursing, including stigma-reduction and psychosocial care frameworks in collectivist and culturally diverse societies.

Chronic disease management, multimorbidity, frailty, healthy aging, health promotion, community empowerment, disaster nursing, nursing resilience, and community-based interventions. Particular attention is given to research addressing healthcare delivery among aging populations and communities affected by limited resources, geographic barriers, natural disasters, climate vulnerability, and health disparities.

Maternal and perinatal health, child and adolescent health, developmental disabilities, growth and development, stunting prevention, family-centered care, adolescent behavioral health, reproductive health, and nursing-led community interventions. JPKI particularly welcomes research aligned with tropical health priorities, health equity, regional health challenges, and relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In line with its commitment to strengthening international scholarly collaboration, JPKI particularly welcomes research involving:

• Cross-cultural nursing research;
• Comparative studies across healthcare or educational systems;
• Research involving LMIC and high-income country collaboration;
• Regional and global nursing challenges;

• Research evaluating the transferability or adaptation of nursing interventions across different contexts; and
• Studies that generate findings with relevance beyond a single institution or geographic setting.
