Generative AI Policy
Responsible, transparent, and accountable use of generative artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing.
Jurnal Pendidikan Keperawatan Indonesia (JPKI) recognizes the increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI) and AI-assisted technologies in research and scholarly communication. Such technologies must be used transparently, responsibly, ethically, and without compromising research integrity, confidentiality, authorship accountability, or the reliability of the scholarly record.
1. Generative AI and Authorship
Generative AI tools, large language models, chatbots, or other AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires human accountability for the accuracy, integrity, originality, interpretation, and ethical conduct of the work.
2. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to JPKI, including content developed or revised with the assistance of generative AI technologies.
Authors must verify the accuracy, validity, originality, citations, references, interpretations, and conclusions of their manuscripts and must ensure that AI-generated content has not introduced fabricated information, inaccurate references, bias, plagiarism, confidentiality breaches, or misleading claims.
3. Disclosure of Generative AI Use
Authors should transparently disclose material use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation or research processes when such use has contributed substantively to the generation, analysis, interpretation, or presentation of scholarly content. The disclosure should identify the tool and explain how it was used.
4. AI-Generated Data and Research Integrity
Generative AI must not be used to fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or misrepresent research data, participants, results, images, references, ethical approvals, or other elements of the scholarly record. Authors are responsible for preserving appropriate documentation and evidence supporting the reported research.
5. Confidentiality and Sensitive Information
Authors must not enter confidential participant information, identifiable patient data, unpublished confidential data, copyrighted material without authorization, or other sensitive information into generative AI systems when doing so may result in unauthorized retention, processing, disclosure, or reuse.
6. Generative AI in Peer Review
Peer reviewers are responsible for their own evaluation and recommendations.
Reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts, figures, supplementary materials, review reports, or other confidential editorial content to publicly accessible generative AI systems or external services that may retain, process, reuse, or disclose such information.
7. Generative AI in Editorial Decision-Making
Editors remain responsible for all editorial decisions and must preserve manuscript confidentiality.
Generative AI must not replace human editorial judgment, scientific assessment, peer review, ethical evaluation, or responsibility for decisions concerning acceptance, revision, rejection, correction, or retraction.
8. Accountability
The use of generative AI does not reduce or transfer the responsibility of authors, reviewers, or editors. Human contributors remain accountable for the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, originality, ethical compliance, and scholarly quality of their work.
Generative AI may support scholarly work, but it must not replace human accountability, scientific judgment, ethical responsibility, or transparent authorship.
Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence
JPKI supports responsible innovation in scholarly publishing while maintaining research integrity, confidentiality, transparency, human accountability, and trust in the scientific record.
