About the Journal

The Journal of Physical Education for Secondary Schools (JPESS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Study Program, Faculty of Sports and Health Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Established in 2020, the journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly knowledge and professional practice in the field of physical education, with a particular focus on the secondary school context.

JPESS provides a platform for researchers, academics, educators, and practitioners to disseminate high-quality original research, systematic reviews, and empirical studies. The journal welcomes contributions that address instructional models, teaching approaches and styles, curriculum and content knowledge, assessment and evaluation, students' physical fitness and health, adapted physical education, and other disciplinary perspectives relevant to physical education in secondary schools.

All manuscripts submitted to JPESS are written in English and undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and scholarly integrity. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and follows internationally recognized guidelines for editors, reviewers, and authors.

JPESS is published twice a year, in April and October. The journal provides immediate open access to its content, supporting the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters a greater global exchange of knowledge. Accepted articles are published online and are freely accessible to all readers without any subscription or access fees.

As a fully open-access journal, JPESS does not charge any submission, processing, or publication fees to authors at any stage of the editorial process. The journal is indexed in Google Scholar and Garuda, and actively collaborates with a number of national and international professional organizations in the field of physical education and sport science.
